KAMALPUR, Nov 30 (TIWN): Three member team of NAAC led by the Vice Chancellor of Kumaun University Prof. H.S. Dhami has recently visited Kamalpur Degree College for accreditation recently. Their visit has concluded today. In the two days’ visit on 28th and 29th November, the team has discussed with the parents, students, faculties and alumni. They have looked into the pros and cons of the college and prepared the report. Before leaving, H. S. Dhami has talked with the TIWN.
He has expressed that the matter is solely confidential and cannot be disclosed anything. However, he has expressed his astonishment why the college has not applied yet for accreditation after its establishment in 1987.
However, from other sources it has been revealed that, the committee has expressed rage on different matters like infrastructure, internet connectivity, transportation, library etc. And during the alumni meet or the parents meet, the authority has ensured that only the party-loyal persons could meet the visitors. And in the fear of disclosing many unpleasant facts, the authority has tried its best suppress the fact of visit from the larger portion of parents and alumni. As a result, the College might get B grade in the accreditation despite of several shortcomings like occasional practise of ragging.
It might be mentioned here that, NAAC visit is a very formal part of Higher education. A team visit the colleges and universities every fifth year to look into the matters and decide its grade. However, after its establishment in 1987, Kamalpur Degree College has never initiated for NAAC accreditation before now.
