CM inaugurates Shalgarah-Jamjuri Bridge in Udaipur

UDAIPUR, June 10(TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the 11th bridge over the River Gomati on Tuesday. The Shalgarah-Jamjuri Bridge was declared open to all at around 4.15pm. Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik was the Chief Guest on this occasion.

Others who remained present on this occasion as Special Guests were DM Gomati Sonal Goel, IAS, Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zila Parishad Himangshu Roy and PWD Chief Engineer (Road & Building) . PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury presided over this programme.

    The Welcome Address was given by PWD Engineer Chief. The total programme had to be curtailed and within fifteen minutes the entire programme ended due to heavy rain. Even when the Chief Minister inaugurated the bridge, rain was falling heavily. In his address Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that Tripura will soon be a model state in the country due to its over all progress in all sectors. And Shalgarah-Jamjuri bridge will help the farmers to earn more profit as they can easily sell their products in the city markets, said CM. He assured that in the field of development there will be no politics. That's why development works are now going across the whole state. Very soon Tripura will be a surplus power state and irrigation sector is grooming. He urged the people to remind the Govt if it makes any mistakes. He stressed that without the assistance of all a party in power can not bring all round development.

     Addressing the people PWD Mimister Badal Chowdhury said that the bridge cost around Rs-14 lakhs(including the approach road). The length if the bridge is 400.5ft while its breadth is 12 metre. He said that PWD has targeted to transform all wooden bridges into iron or RCC bridge. The Minister said, " Already 90% work has been completed and with two or three years time Tripura will be declared as a Zero Wooden Bridge state." Badal Chowdhry reminded that the construction of the bridge started in the year 2009 and completed by the end of 2013. However, the approach road was not completed till March 2014. As such it was not declared open for being used by the people.
