Agartala, June 10 (TIWN): Seeking support from all section of people on the development activities, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said the government would welcome criticism or suggestion if there is any lapse on the part of the government machinery.
“Don’t stay away from government works. Come forward and identify the loopholes or errors if there are such instance for taking remedial measures”, he urged the people after inaugurating a bridge connecting Shalgarh and Jamjuri in Udaipur subdivision.
Highlighting the performance of the Left Front government, Sarkar claimed most of the villages have been covered with electricity service and left-out five to six villages would get the service very shortly.
Within next two or three years, all the wooden bridges would be replaced either by bailey bridge or concrete structure, he said adding that the Left Front government has been working for the welfare of the people since 1978. “ The state has witnessed all-round development programmes by the Left Front government but still long way to go”, he said.
In his speech, PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury said agency has been fixed to double-lane the National Highway from Udaipur-Sabroom. However, the government is yet to select the agency to undertake face-lift work from Agartala to Udaipur.
Chowdhury said the state government would prepare its plan after observing the attitude of the BJP led NDA government. Interestingly, Forest Minister Naresh Jamatia and two MLAs- Madhab Saha and Pranajit Singha Roy who were invited to attend the programme, skipped the occasion.
Sources said, unprecedented security arrangement was made for the inaugural function to doge the members of District Hospital Bachao Committee, who were planning to give a deputation to the Chief Minister opposing the shifting plan of the district hospital to Tapania.
