AGARTALA, Nov 26 (TIWN): The political chaos emerging in Tripura ahead of Assembly election, is hitting the normal lives here almost everyday. INPTs, CPI-Ms organized rallies with 2 different issues, which created hourlong road blockade in the capital City. INPT at around 1.30 PM had started a rally with various demands and immediately CPI-M also sat a demonstration in the name of protesting against demonetization. However, enough security was deployed there, TIWN reported. Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, Shambhu Debbarma, Amiya Debbarma, Pritilata Debbarma, Jagadish Debbarma, Sroto Ranjan Kshisa led the rally of INPT. On the other hand a 4 members team placed deputation to the Governor of Tripura; then they joined the rally. The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT); demanded that the Indira-Mujib International pact need to be followed properly, 50 % seats to reserve for STs, Inner permit Act to be introduced for ADC, Kokborok language to be introduced in Roman letters, no amendment to Forest Act 2016, etc, to give more power to ADC.

It’s worthy to the mention here that the demands are quite controversial and it raised much resentment as it hit the moment of office leaving hours at Saturday 2 PM creating much problems for office returners, school students.

The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra is claimed itself as a political party in Tripura. INPT is led by Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl (former guerrilla leader of the Tripura National Volunteers). The INPT was formed as a merger of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura and the Tripura Upajati Juba Samiti in 2002.The formation of the INPT was pushed through after pressure from the underground National Liberation Front of Tripura, who wanted to unite all tribal nationalist forces in a single party. The INPT is commonly seen as the political branch of NLFT.
