Agartala, June 10 (TIWN): The students even after passing the Higher Secondary (+2 stage) examination with good marks were not able to take admission at Tripura Central University in the IMD course. The last date for the submission of form for integrated course got over before the declaration of H.S. results. Examination for the said course was held here on June 02 and the H.S. result was out on June 07.

It is worthy to mention here that after the IMD course was introduced three years back in University, students were observed quite interested in the course. The then Minister for Higher Education Kapil Sibbal during the regime of UPA government introduced the said course in order to fabricate teachers at university level. The course prepares the students to go for research level along with the completion of Graduation and Post Graduation. Only a few universities of the state provide such opportunities to students among which is Tripura University.

Hence, the students are having interest in the course. Also, the university is under too much pressure regarding the admission in the course. In order to evade the pressure, the university higher-ups have managed to complete admission before the declaration of H.S. results. Resentment brewed among the students and their guardians as the university brought a change in the admission schedule to different integrated courses. Last year the admission in this course was held after the results, hence, no one was able to assume the change in admission schedule to the course and gave it importance.

The university higher-ups on asking the issue said that they had already given the advertisement many days before the declaration of H.S. results in the university website. Also they said they could not presume that it was quite difficult for the students of a backward state like Tripura to search internet every day. Similar decision was taken by Assam University. The Assam University too completed admission procedure before the declaration of H.S. results. But, All Kachar Students’ Union (AKSU) and AIDSO staged protest against the university decision. But, the students of Tripura remained silent yet regarding the issue. But, a sense of disappointment could be ascertained among the students.
