AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): CPI-M's last baston Tripura continue poll victories amidst fractured opposition parties. With the ending of final round counting at Barjala constituency, CPI-M candidate Jhumu Sarkar is ahead of other party candidates with 15,769 votes, BJP occupying the 2nd position with 12,395 votes, Trinamool 5692 and Congress 1063. At Khowai CPI-M candidate Biswajit Dutta got 24,810 votes, Trinamool 8716 votes, BJP 2528 votes and Congress 696 votes. TMC in 2nd position at Khowai whereas BJP at Barjala occupied 2nd position, but the opposition votes together is greater than the votes of CPI-M's vote banks which gives the message of ‘Opposition Alliance’ can be dangerous for the ruling CPI-M party here. Pabitra Kar thanked the people for their great supports, whereas he added at Barjala the result was not at all satisfactory and the expectation was much more from that area. He further said that BJP has given some bribes to the local people there, as per their sources. The opposition party counter attacking Pabitra Kar immediately said that he should not talk like this, as it’s an insult to the common people and in democracy such words are nothing, but violation of freedom.

However, Biplab Deb said that at Khowai BJP is very new, so the expectation was less from there, but the massive vote gathering from Barjala constituency has inspired the party further for better result in coming days.

Sudip Roy Barman said, “We tried a lot to inspire the voters, but must be there were some drawbacks, but we will find out the flaws. But TMC is very new here, so we are not sad after the result and due to confusion created by other political parties, the result is like that”.

However, question raising whether TMC has failed to create trust among the people and Biplab Deb in this regard he said, “TMC was self created and political leaders joined in TMC leaving Congress, but they are mistaking by accepting public votes as they were not selected by the common men”.

The bi-election had conducted for 2 constituencies : Khowai-25 and Barjal-4. CPI-M Jhumu Sarkar (for Barjala) & Biswajit Datta (for Khowai) were selected as the candidates and now Jhumu Sarkar and Biawajit Dutta are all set to be the MLAs.
