Tripura Assam force jointly organized medical camp

DHARMANAGAR / AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): District Administration, Hailakandi joined hands with Inspector General Assam Rifles(East) in healing the wounds of far flung habitats of South Hailakandi.

A marathon medical camp was organised by both these organisations on 18 Nov 2016 at Riflemara, Gharmura – Bagchhera GP,  under Civic Action Programme which was jointly inaugurated by Brigadier Navin Sachdeva, Deputy Inspector Genera 21 Sector Assam Rifles  and Moloy Bora, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi.

Pranab Jyoti Goswami,  Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Joint Director Health and Family Welfare Department, Hailakandi  Doctor Umesh Phangcho, officials of Assam Rifles from Tripura and Cachar district and thousands of local populace graced the event. 

The aim of this medical camp was to provide free treatment to the population of far flung areas at their door step.  A specially constituted medical team of ten doctors from civil as well as Assam Rifles treated more than thousands patients and distributed loads of medicines. 

All the patients were screened for various ailments of Throat, Dental, Eyes, Chest, Gynae and Paediatrics, and was provided with de-worming tablets.  As per the village head man Shri Tilok Ram Reang whose father was the  founder of Riflemara village and  locals, this kind of medical camp has never been witnessed by them ever.  The warm welcome by the Reang teens in their traditional attire admired by the senior officials present there, followed by wreath laying at the memorial of Shri Chandromoni Reang, founder of Riflemara village.

  The medical camp started with a confidence speech by both Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, district Hailakandi and senior officials from Assam Rifles, followed by lectures on general awareness on hygiene and sanitation especially for kids and pregnant women by doctors.

A demonstration was also showcased by dentist for dental care. Brigadier Navin Sachdeva, Deputy Inspector General,  21 Sector Assam Rifles and other officials took this opportunity also to distribute winter clothing, writing materials and solar lamps to cover more than 700 houses.  The villagers from 16 different villages of Chatachhara Pahar and Kala Pahar came forward to attend  the medical camp. 

The Kalyan Ashram under Shri Shantanu Barman played a vital role in propagating the message of  medical camp in the remotest villages and also organising the event. The village headmen from different villages had a “Chai pe Charcha” for various ongoing issues and future development projects with the officials from Assam Rifles and civil administration.

The Assam Rifles has proved its tagline  “Friends of the hill people” once again by joining hands with Hailakandi district administration through such medical camp. The locals expressed their gratitudes and appreciated such noble projects being undertaken by Assam Rifles and local administration.
