VOTE & Democracy : the single day when masses become the ‘Almighty’ : Huge rush of women, senior citizens observed before booths, 91 % vote-casting rate reported among 78,407 voters

AGARTALA, Nov 19 (TIWN): The much awaited bi-election began since 7 AM at both Barjala and Khowai constituencies. TIWN reported that women have dominated the booths and as well as senior citizens’ numbers are much above. Keeping the Assembly Election 2018 in mind, the voting rate may be increased a lot, TIWN reported from Barjala constituency. Security has already beefed up before the booths, whereas no unwanted incident yet has been reported. The voting rate till 4 PM was about 91 % and it may increase more, the control room reported. Women vote marked also more than 80 %. At Barjala there are 48 booths, whereas at Khowai there are52 booths. Among Barjala’s 48 booths the highly sensitive booths were marked around of 10 numbers, whereas at khowai around 12 highly sensitive booths were already identified.

Total 9 companies of CRPF have been deployed at Khowai and Brajala constituency and the vote casting till now held peacefully. TIWN also talked to BJP and CPI-M candidates Sistan Mohon Das and Jhumu Sarkar after they cast vote at the very beginning of the poll around 7.30 AM.  

Jhumu had cast his vote at South Lankamura school whereas the BJP candidate Sistan Mohon Das cast his vote at Patunagar High School.There are long queues of voters before every booths and at outside CRPF, BSF, police all keeping high vigilance.

It’s worthy to mention here that this the only day, when politicians feel themselves as ‘Helpless’-----without the masses, but once the result gets out, the democracy’s scenario keeps on changing.

However, as per West SP Abhijit Saptashi’s claim  the polling till now has remained peaceful.

The bi-election are conducting in 2 constituencies : Khowai-25 and Barjal-4. From CPI-M Jhumu Sarkar (for Barjala) & Biswajit Datta (for Khowai) were selected as the candidates.  From Trinamool Prakash Das (for Barjala) & Manoj Das (for Khowai) and from Congress Rajendra Kumar Das (for Barjala)  & Pranab Biswash (for Khowai) are the candidates.  Sista Mohan Das  (for Barjala)  & Tapan Pal (for Khowai) are the BJP candidates.
