kHOWAI (25), Nov 19 (TIWN): Voters with much enthusiasm are casting their votes at Khowai-25 constituency.

During the morning time, the women voters’ numbers were more than men, TIWN reported.

The situation is fully under control and the vote has been held much peacefully.

Security measures had been tightened for bi-elections since Friday in this regard.

The Barjala seat fell vacant after Congress legislator Jitendra Sarkar resigned on June 6 following an internal feud within the party while the Khowai seat has been vacant since the death of veteran CPI-M legislator Samir Deb Sarkar.

Total 39,007 voters, including 18,935 females, are casting ballot in the Barjala constituency. In Khowai, 39,400 voters are eligible, among them 19,436 are women.
