AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): District Magistrate, West district Abhishek Singh today intensified magisterial level inquiry into the clash between BSF and villagers at Dakshin Ramnagar in which two persons including a BSF jawan died and nine more were injured. As part of the inquiry, the DM today visited the spot and recorded statement of BSF officials and jawans, who were on duty on the fateful day of June 13. Around ten BSF personnel including a company commander have given statements before the magistrate.

Mr. Singh also met the eye-witnesses of the incident and recorded their statements amid tight security. Sources said, the eye-witnesses blamed the BSF personnel for the fatal incident.

After today’s job, the District Magistrate would conduct a public hearing over the incident on June 16, one of the important silent features of the magisterial level inquiry.

According to sources, the hospital authority was asked to submit autopsy reports of both bodies by today itself for taking necessary steps. Preliminary reports suggest, none of two slain persons- Sandip Kumar (BSF jawan) and Ismile Miah did not received bullet injury- it means they were lynched to death.

Side by side, the police and BSF authority would also conduct inquiry into the incident separately.  Director General of BSF DK Pathak, who held meeting with BSF authority at Frontier Headquarters, Salbagan asked the Inspector General (IG), Tripura Frontier to undertake a commandant level inquiry into the incident.

“The Commandant level inquiry will start after completion of judicial probe”, said a senior BSF official here today.
