AGARTALA, Nov 17 (TIWN): Some illogical demands have been raised by 16 unions in Tripura, who are to challenge the new Education policy adapted by Indian Govt in 2016. Alleging that the proposed 2016 Education policy will move the whole system towards privatization, the CPI-M backed unions have repealed the policy and also warned the Centre that a major protest to be conducted by the unions in Tripura. In a press meet, held at CPI-M Melarmath Party office the Swapan Bal, the President of National Education Security Forum (Jatiya Shiksha Surakhsha Mancha-which is comprised of 16 unions) told media that considering Education as a very sensitive social agenda, the forum has decided to oppose the Education policy of the Central Govt. ‘Education is the fundamental right of every children, which can not be compromised with anything; and thus protesting against the step taken by the central govt the forum will organize a convention at Agartala townhall on November 20, where Delhi University Professor Saswati Majumder will be the main orator', said Bal.

However, interesting matter is that the proposed Education policy of the central govt doesn't claim that it will hand over the education policy to private-organizations.

The issue which haunting CPI-M here is that the central policy may be big jolt for the the Education policy of Tripura Govt—that is 'teacher’s training & quality'.

As per Govt of India’s website’s theme 5 it has been said that “Re-vamping Teacher Education for Quality Teachers” is one of the main targets of the central govt. It has been said that :

 1. There is an urgent need to have a fresh perspective of preparations of teachers to address evolving concerns of school curriculum, transactional pedagogies, ICT etc. for improving the overall quality of education.

2. For ensuring availability of adequate number of teachers, the second year of the programme can be used as intern in the schools where teacher shortage is acute and they may be provided a stipend for this purpose as is done for the medical trainees.

3. An assessment survey to be conducted on the critical issues like why the students are not interested in joining B.Ed. course in recent days; the status of professionalism among working teachers?

4. A separate accreditation board to be established at National level to assess and award ranking of the teacher training institutions to achieve quality teacher education.

Among the 12 policies, TIWN highlighting on 4 crucial policies regarding teacher recruitment, in which ground Tripura Govt has been miserably failed to maintain the Education-Quality. Neither the school have sufficient number of teachers, no its half of the staffs are trained.

A big question mark is on the much claimed the highest literacy rate in Tripura after Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty accepted the fact that more than 50 % of the teachers in Tripura are untrained. But question which was never asked to the ruling govt of Tripura is--- Who is actually responsible for this present scenario... !

10,323 teachers are the victims of the Govt’s wrong recruitment policy and in this situation to safe the face of CPI-M Govt here the United Forums comprising TGTA, TTA, Tripura University Employees Committee, Tripura University Officer Committee, Tripura University Teachers Committee, Tripura College Teachers Association, DYFI, TYF, SFI, TSU, Tripura Science Forum, Tripura Education Dept. Officers Association will meet at Agartala Townhall on Nov, 20, TIWN reported.
