Extra marital affair claims wife’s life
TIWN

AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): Police have recovered body of ‘missing’ woman from Kashari jungle under Belonia police and arrested two suspected killers.

Preliminary investigation reveals, extra marital affair might be the reason behind the gruesome murder.

On Saturday, the woman- Urmila Debnath alias Monti left his husband’s home (Dakshin Lakhandepa) around 9.30 am for his father’s residence at Radhanagar under PR Bari police station.

As she did not reach to her home , her uncle- Krishnapada Debnath came to Dakshin Lakhandepa under Melagarh police station on the following morning but he did not find her.

Villagers informed Krishnapada that Urmila’s husband Ranjit Das has fallen in love with another girl of the area.

Sensing the trouble, Krishnapada rushed to Melagarh police station and lodged a complaint against Ranjit, husband of the woman.

Acting on the complaint, police detained Ranjit who has already confessed he killed Urmilla by strangulating her on a moving Maruti car. And body of his wife was buried in a jungle near Kashari, 18 km from Melagarh.

Based on the inputs, police visited the spot and recovered the body last evening.

Driver of the vehicle- Bapi Goswami was also arrested in connection with murder of Urmila Debnath (27).

Police today produced both the arrested persons before a local court seeking five-day police remand for interrogation.

Meanwhile, hundreds of villagers of Bairagi Bazar and Lakhandepa today marched to the Melagarh police station and demanded stern punishment against those involved in the heinous crime.

Reports said, angry villagers also ransacked the residence of Ranjit Das at Dakshin Lakhandepa.
