AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): Director General of BSF DK Pathak arrived at BSF’s Tripura Frontier Headquarters at Salbagan here today, official sources confirmed here today.During an hour-long visit, the DG held meeting with top BSF officials including Inspector General (IG) BN Sharma here to review the border situation aftermath of the fatal incident at Dakshin Ramanagar.
At Dakshin Ramnagar area, two persons including a BSF jawan killed in a clash between troops and villagers on Friday. In the clash, nine villagers also sustained injury sparking panic in the area.
The government has already ordered magisterial level inquiry into the incident and District Magistrate, West district has already initiated probe in the incident.
Angry villagers have met the IG, BSF and demanded a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to the next kin of the bereaved family.
Interestingly, Pathak did not visit the spot where the clash broke out.
In the meeting, the DG was briefed about the fresh influx of Bangladeshi nationals through Gandacherra’s Indo-Bangla border and safe return of the refugees.
After reviewing the situation and passing necessary instructions, the DG, BSF left for Delhi en-route to Kolkata, a BSF official said today.
Sources said, the DG, BSF has asked the local BSF authority to expedite the fencing works along the Indo-Bangla border to avoid unwanted situation.
Here it may be noted all the 82 Bangla nationals who have crossed over Indo –Bangla border have been sent back to their homeland on Saturday.
