AGARTALA, Nov 13 (TIWN): Atlast the long waiting may end now as Morachak to begin a fresh start from December month, with ONGC’s supply of gas to the plant. Reportedly, a lifeless situation has occupied Tripura’s one of the major plants Monarchak, which is located in Sepahijala District. The project which runs on Combined Cycle Mode and consists of one Gas Turbines of 65.42 MW & one Steam Turbine of 35.58 MW each of BHEL supplied operating on natural gas obtained from the gas fields of M/S ONGC, is under the observation of project head S R Biswas. But since 5 months the project is lying dead as ONGC has failed to provide gas to the plant but there is no chance of quick recovery of the plant from this state as December was marked as the deadline for ONGC to supply gas.Lack of interference of Tripura Govt in this issue, a major part of power generation has been stopped as Monarchak left non-working due to lack of gases. Talking to S R Biswas he said that its this years December that the project may get a kick. In comparison to the last year, this year Durga Puja, Diwali days suffered from much more power crisis, but the under the lameduck Power Minister Manik Dey, there is no development of the condition yet, resulting more sufferings to the urban and rural areas.

With the ending of Diwali the power cut frequency has increased more.

Day by day Tripura’s power generation capacity is decreasing with the falling of ONGC to supply enough power to Monarchak. The condition of Palatana’s both units are not satisfactory as the 2nd unit often dies & maximum times Palatana’s 2nd unit do not work properly.

With lack of gas supply from ONGC, the power plant is running under heavy losses. However, with all these, the chances of loadshedding have been increased in state, as in puja month the demand of power remains highest, in compare to the whole tear.

Although power crisis is not felt in Agartala, but other subdivisions of Tripura suffer from frequent load-shedding. Tripura govt. is not also interfering in this issue.  Thus Monarchak heads have also given up, as Tripura Govt. has no concerned about the Plants future.

Source said that ONGC’s failure in supplying gas to 101MW also causing of 4.4lakh every day.

Northeast Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) had asked Northeast Regional Load Dispatch Centre (NERLDC) to snap power supply to Tripura from April 5 midnight until further order due to non-payment of huge outstanding bills. But again NEEPCO blessed Tripura people hearing Tripura Govt.’s plea to extend the time, for the pending bill, which crossed 180 crores. But after that although NEEPCO is ready to provide power to state, but ONGC has closed NEEPCO’s business till December month.
