Two FIRs lodged into BSF-Smuggler  clash

AGARTALA, June 7 (TIWN): Two separate FIRs have been filed at West Agartala police station blaming each other for the yesterday’s fatal incident at Dakshin Ramanagar area, official sources confirmed here tonight. After conducting postmortem of both bodies, the administration handed over them to their competent authority. It was confirmed Ismile Miah did not suffer bullet injuries and he might have been killed after repeated hits by blunt weapons. Several cut injuries marks were found on the body of BSF jawan with his face mutilated. However, police did not get autopsy report from the hospital authority.

In the first FIR, Ismile Miah’s son has alleged that BSF jawans had killed his father after a hot altercation with the troops. “Some people were sitting near a pond to cool themselves off. Around 8.30 pm, two BSF jawans appeared there and have got into altercation with them. And, suddenly, jawans opened fire resulting in my father died on the spot”, he said in the FIR.

Police started investigation into both FIRs but no arrest has been made so far. In another FIR, one Asst Commandant of BSF alleged, “Jawans engaged in routine patrolling went to Dakshin Ramangar after getting inputs of movement of smugglers. When troops challenged the smugglers, they along with some villagers attacked the jawans. In self defence, scared jawans open fire in the air and then at the smugglers/ villagers as attack continues. One BSF personnel- Sandip Kumar was lynched to death by the smugglers”.
