Tribal youths set example in blood donation: Lack of education and development could not put hindrance

KAMALPUR, Nov 11 (TIWN): The chief economic activities of the area still remained jhum cultivation and ocassional farming. Lack of infrastructure and basic services like irrigation, drinking water, health, education casted its heavy toll on the people. Stii 14 youths of remote Binoy Roaja Para, almost two kilometres away from Chawmanu market at Longthoraivalley sub-division set an example which might teach a lesson to so-called educated urban elites. Under the initiative of Nehru Yuba Kendra the youths voluntarily donated blood yesterday.

Binoy Roaja Para is situated at the foothills of Longthorai. The village is habutuated by tribal communities like Noatia, Tripuri, Chakma, Reang, Aaslong, Debbarma. The elders never have been to school. The only school is broken. Few youths have been to college. They have no awarness about blood donation neither they have donates blood. But 14 youths donated blood on the ocassion of setting up of a club namely Longthorai Hathai club.

The youths Biralkanti Chakma, Hiran Barua, Bikram Debbarma expressed that they got the fear of blood donation. For this fear many more youths skipped the donation. They also assured that from now on they would motivate others in blood donation. Such donations are nothing new in urban areas. But such an initiative must be treated as an exemplary one for the yoths got victory over the fear which still haunts many highly educated youths. The areas which once remained to be the den of bloodshed and insurgency start a new journey. And Binoy Roaja Para set the tune.
