City life turned as 'shitty-life' : Massive flood hits Agartala as water discharging machines left damaged : Garbage floating over water-logs, spreading diseases

AGARTALA, Nov 6 (TIWN): No respite from flood-like situation at Agartala as the water discharging machines are not working properly. The maximum machines are left damaged, whereas others are not working well but it was unearthed when the unseasonal rain came in this November month, resulting huge disruption in everyday lives of common people. From students to households, all are facing acute this problem due to the damaged condition of the city. The situation became more pathetic, when the waste materials are found floating over the water and many people alleged that this water is creating skin irritations. Talking to a local man at Ganaraj Chowmuhnai area, he said, “During the whole year Citizens are paying full taxes to AMC and recently it has hiked the properly tax but what AMC is giving us?” However, a man from Agartala Sarat-Palli area complained, “All the dustbins are taken away from our area 4 months back and municipal has failed to return the dustbins to us. The whole year when we open our gate every morning what we see first infront of every houses is garbage !”

It’s worthy to mention here, that in the performance budget (2015-16)  & outcome budget (2016-17), declared by Mayor Prafullajit Sinha it was written that, “The main fund of AMC gathers from Tax. In 2015-2016 FY, Rs. 438.26 Lakhs were gathered by AMC, whereas in 2016-17 the target is about Rs. 80 lakhs”. Thus the gap between 2 FYs seems as around Rs. 42 lakhs, which will be however a huge for Agartala residents.

Thus question arises, will not this demanded tax for common people not be high for Agartala people as AMC has failed to provide any facility to the public.

PM Modi’s 98,000 crores Urban development project reels under corruption in Tripura Left-front Era, and SMART City mission is also becoming a dream for Agartala.

During the budget counter speech he talked about various projects ongoing and also completed project among which Mayor clamed about the almost completion of JNNURM’s Rs. 102.22 crores, which was sanctioned for Storm Water Drainage system.

But in reality there is no sign of proper drainage yet arranged in Agartala city. With a few splash of rain the city dupes into water and water logging till waist, is very common for Agartala City.

Whereas Agartala city is aimed convert into a SMART City in future, but it has remained as one of the most ‘Garbage-dumping-ground'.

Under Manik Sarkar’s regime another example of Tripura’s Golden Era is the Municipal Council’s cleanliness management skill across the Agartala city. The whole city is hit with dirty smells, garbage beside the road and resulting into much unhygienic condition during rainy seasons.
