AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN):EIL engineers will arrive soon to provide technical assistance to local contractors to complete the unfinished work of gas pipe line for supplying gas to Manarchak power plant , said V. P. Mahawar Asset Manager of ONGC, Tripura Asset. He told TIWN on Friday that ONGC has memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EIL’s expertise spanning the complete range of services for offshore projects such as well head platforms, process and gas compression platforms, water injection & gas lift platforms and submarine pipelines. The NEEPCO has invested Rs. 623 crore to set up 101 MW power project at Monarchak.
Over the years, EIL have played a pivotal role in the development of offshore oil and gas projects in Mumbai High and other fields in the west and east coast of India said Mr. Mahawar.
The ONGC had engaged Shivani Construction Ltd to lay the pipe line from Khedabari to Monarchak to supply natural gas. However, the company had abandoned the project and left the state without paying money to the sub-contractors. Finding no other alternative, the ONGC has engaged local sub-contractors to complete the remaining work.
To run the gas based power project, the NEEPCO authority has inked an agreement with the oil giant ONGC. As per the agreement, the ONGC will supply 5 lakh cubic meter gas to the NEEPCO for running the 101 MW power plant
