AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): Union Ministry of Surface Transport and Highway had finalized the tender of widening of NH -44 for double lane from Udaipur to Sabroom, said PWD sources adding that the tender for Agartala – Udaipur road will be floated soon.
The 128 km long Agartala – Sabroom NH -44 will be widened in two phases. Phase I, which is around 55 km, is Agartala – Udaipur and remaining 73 km categorized as Phase II is Udaipur – Sabroom.
Addl. chief secretary of Tripura government G.K. Rao has convened a meeting on June 3 and discussed on shifting and land acquisition. The meeting was attended by officials from departments of TSECL, DWS and Forest. He told officials for speedy shifting and land acquisition.
Meanwhile, the union ministry had sanctioned Rs 49410.99 lakhs for compensation for utility and land acquisition for two laning for Agartala – Udaipur- Sabroom section of NH- 44. A total of 173 acres of land required to be acquired for 2 laning. ADM of West district, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura has been appointed as competent authority by the union ministry for land acquisition.
The foundation stone for widening and double laning project of NH- 44 was laid last year. The 73 Km long road length is estimated to be alleviated to double lane status by a Rs. 627 crore project
