KAMALPUR, Nov 4 (TIWN): BSM Hospital at Kamalpur experiencing a huge wave of hyper activity regarding the probable visit of central audit team on NRHM.

The authority spent last five years gobbling lakhs of money and not providing minimum basic services to the patients. The beds, bed covers, furniture remained under lock at the storage.

The patients had to pass the days without service and with the obstinacy of the nurses and staffs amidst bad odour and unhygienic, waste-filled premise.

Even the authority not used the bulbs of the hospital on the point of inability of paying electricity bills. But now, the hospital got renovated with new beds, bed covers, lights, furniture.

A contractor close to the SDMO and the son-in-law of a veteran CPI-M leader got bestowed with the duty to complete all the works without any tender.

That contractor who used to arrange a grand party for the SDMO and another doctor each evening would grab rupees at his will through bills.  Still, the hospital failed to provide minimum service even to the critical patients.

Whenever, any patient arrived at the hospital at a bit critical condition, the doctors used to refer the patient to GBP hospital. And what remained more serious was that, the patient was not provided any basic service.

Even last night a college student namely Tutan Shil (21) was brought to the hospital after being rescued from his effort to hang to death. The boy was taken to the hospital when he was crying in pain and his nerves were out of his control.

The doctors first attempted to push him a saline but failed. Then somehow an injection was pushed and referred to Agartala. The ambulances that were kept in the hospital remained without use for the family for almost half an hour as the drivers were found missing.

Then the boy was taken to Agartala with much difficulty. However, there the boy got cured from his illness.

Every day, the hospital used to refer patients with minor cuts and wounds to GBP and the doctors could not provide any treatment but being busy in private chambers.
