CAG Report finds many loopholes in MDM scheme in schools at Kamalpur: Put the proper implementation under scanner
TIWN Nov 2, 2016

KAMALPUR, Nov 2 (TIWN): The so-called demands of development and rapid growth resulting into the making the state of Tripura a model state in the country came under scanner after the publication of CAG Report 01 of 2016 on Govt. of Tripura.

Specially, the role of school education department in conducting the Mid Day Meal scheme came under scanner and big question mark from several perspectives in the CAG Report. The Report dealt with the facts and data for a period from 2010 to 2015 for consideration.

In that report CAG put the entire mechanism of MDM in the state. The department never collected grass-root level data for preparation of Annual Work Plan and Budget and hence the AWP&B not showed actual data.

More significantly, the number of children availing MDM declined steadily in the schools. In primary level the decline was from 2.97 lakh students in 2010-11 to 2.35 lakh students in 2014-15.

More importantly, the enrolment in private schools increased by 72 per cent in all those five years while it declined by 18 per cent in MDM available schools.  In the model state when the government used to cry for deprivation then CAG report revealed that, the schools not used 471.23 MT rice.

Now, what the trumpeting department and its Minister would say remain the matter to watch.
