AGARTALA, Oct 30 (TIWN): State Tripura, which is located at Northeastern part of India sharing 856 border with neighboring Bangladesh has finally turned as the den for mafias, drug smugglers fueling by corrupted administration of Tripura Govt. However few honest officials are yet present in Tripura for sure, otherwise no criminals would have been arrested from here. But a major portion of corrupted police officials are working in support of smugglers, especially in places like Sonamura. But all these have remained unchecked, neither those officials have any fear to be exposed. Sonamura is an open town for Bangladeshis, it was said by many officials to TIWN during 2016’s various talks held with them. India made cough syrups which are only Rs. 72 here are sold at Bangladesh at Rs. 1200/-. Moreover, inside branded company marked bottles liquors are entering in Tripura via Sonamura border. However, such officials who take the issues as seriously, who spoil growing ganja gardens, are immediately transferred from those areas.

The cross border smuggling although is affecting the whole state, but the govt kept on denying for any such incident. The drug addiction has intoxicated the mainland of Tripura. Apart from Bangladesh, a major portion of drugs are coming from NE states. Sources said that Mayanmar made products are illegally entering in NE and via other states entering in Tripura also.

The capital city has not remained cut from such problems. 2 round bullets, Phensedyl, chorex and huge amount of drug were recovered from the heart of Agartala City on Thursday. On the other hand BSF had arrested 2 persons from border areas at Nischintapur, Agartala for smuggling drugs on the same day.

The chief accused of Joyshankar murder case was arrested by NCC Police on Saturday early morning with a pistol and bullets on Saturday.

It was on Oct 1, another young men were arrested for such activities from the same city. A smuggler, resident of Tripura Raju Debbarma was arrested with 2 packets of brown sugar from Agartala Gol-Chakkar area.

Apart from this many cases of drug trafficking are coming out in Tripura, which has turned the state as a narcotic hub. The unsealed 158 KM borders are also reason behind such problems.
