UDAIPUR, June 3 (TIWN): After almost 17 days, BHEL engineers and specialists are in position to complete the Performance Guarantee Test (PGT) of UNIT-I of the 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Thermal Power Plant in Palatana by tomorrow morning. On Tuesday top level BHEL engineer told TIWN over phone, "So far the PGT is concerned we are almost certain to complete it by tomorrow. It should have been completed by Tuesday evening; but a short timetime shut down on 31st May mid-night delayed the completion by Wednesday.Already progress is on highly satisfactory note. More than four or five times target of full load power generation (363.3MW) was achieved. Tomorrow if the temperature remains 22-25° C on Wednesday; our specialist in PGT will make all possible initiatives for full-load generation throughout the day."

     According to TIWN sources in OTPC,  Synchronization (connectivity with the Power Grid) has been done at the mid-night of 31st May. And at 10.30 am on 1st June full-load generation started for the first time. And at 10.30am instant 350MW was supplied to the National Power Grid, Bongaingaon. Again in the afternoon of  2nd June Power Grid was supplied 352MW, the highest so far. As per the lattest update 340-350MW power is now being supplied to Power Grid. It means that Tripura is getting 85-92MW power from the North-Eastern Regional Load Dispatch Committee(NERLDC) as its share of power from thethe UNIT-I. It means that the power situation in the state has considerably improved after two weeks.

       It is learnt that during PGT the specialists are to go through three phases as far as power generation is concerned- 100%, 80% and 60% generation. The engineers have successfully conducted 100% and 80% power generation phases. Now 60% generation process is going on. TIWN sources add that by Wednesday morning 60% phase will be completed. And then Power Grid will be informed after achieving full-load target couple of times. If the Power Grid gives the permission, Specialists of PGT will declare the  completion of the Performance Guarantee Test.
