Sonamura, June 3 (TIWN): In two different joint raids of Sonamura sub-divisional administration and combined forces recovered a huge number of contraband items from a house near by old cinema hall and 900 kg Hilsha from Purba Durlav Narayan area, today.
Based on secret information, troops led by SDM- Subhasis Das recovered 900 kg smuggled Hilsha fishes from Purba Durlav Narayan area around 12.30 pm today. The market value of seized Hilsha is about Rs 16 lakh. These fishes were smuggled in the state from Bangladesh to sell in different corner of the state. Troops recovered these fishes from a vehicle bearing the number TR01-P-1885.
On the other hand, cops and local police led by SDM- Subhasis Das conducted a joint raid in the said area. During the search in a house, troops recovered a huge number of contraband items including illicit cough syrup, tablet and various articles, which are used to make contraband items.
Both raids were conducted jointly by the security personals, Coy. Commander of 29 BOP- Ashu Ranjan Rai, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)- Ashok Kumar Sinha.
Notably, some different enforcement agencies in Sonamura area are smuggling various contraband items including Phensedyl and Ganja to Bangladesh. The Sonamura sub-divisional administration and other security personals are playing active roles to prevent the smuggling.
