Errant teachers faces heat
TIWN

Agartala, June 1 (TIWN): Teachers of three schools- Gardhang HS School, Sindukpathar SN School and Kathak Kathai SB School in Sabroom subdivision faced axe after they were caught at fault.

As part of monitoring the schools, Addl Secretary of School Education PK Chakravarty landed at Gardhang HS School yesterday and stunned by the role of teachers. Of the total 28 teachers, seven teachers were found missing from the school at 2 pm! Out of total missing teachers, three have submitted leave applications while four teachers did not turn up school without any information. Deeply upset by the role of teachers, the Addl Secretary asked the Headmaster to deduct a day salary of all the missing teachers.

Shortly after 2 pm, Mr. Chakravorty arrived at Sidukpathar School and found only Headmaster inside the school, who was busy with verifying financial statements of the school. And, all the nine teachers remained absent from the school. The Headmaster was served show cause notice why he did not inform the Inspector of School about the absent of all the nine teachers.

More surprise was waiting for the Addl Secretary at Kathak Kathai School. Around 2.30 pm, the school gate was locked by the authority. Alarmed at the situation, Mr. Chakravarty asked the Inspector of School to deduct a day’s salary from all the nine teachers engaged in the school.

Not only three rural schools, all is not well in city-based schools. As the city witnessed medium shower day before yesterday night, shutter of Sakhicharan Higher Secondary School remained down as Mid-Day Meal in-charge Anil Das returned to office without visiting the grant-in-aid school. Sources said, the department will take action against the school authority for keeping the school close without prior permission.
