Agartala, Sept 26 (TINW): After several rounds of talks, Union ministry of animal husbandry has permitted the State government to go ahead with admissions for graduate courses in the State Veterinary Science and Husbandry College.

The secretary of Animal Resource Development, Mr. Swapan Saha said on Thursday, Ministry has sent the copy of permission to government of Tripura. “The College authorities will start the special admission process soon. It will end by October 31 next, said Mr. Saha. The veterinary college will take 20 students this year.

On May, this year a VCI delegation visited the college and reviewed the infrastructure for admission to students. The fate of the only Veterinary College was at stake due to non – fulfillment of VCI guidelines and required recruitment of faculty member’s.

It may be recalled here that the government establishments had worked round the clock to develop existing infrastructures of veterinary college as per guideline framed by VCI and recruitment of faculty members.

The joint director of the department Dr. Manonranjan Sarkar, along with the secretary Mr. Saha last week had a series of meeting with high officials of union ministry and Veterinary Council of India at New Delhi.

In 2009 the college had been established at R. K. Nagar area on the outskirt of Agartala. In the opening year of college only 19 students were admitted.
