AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Tripura’s health service can not be called anymore a “Better” health service as during a medical camp held at Arjuna Border area it was exposed that people there are massively suffering from skin disease. A medical camp was held at Baithang Bari led by BSF Commandant Dr. N S Bhaiya on Sunday. During the medical camp it was unearthed that many of them are suffering from various kinds of skin diseases in that area. This is the same area, where before few days resented patients gheroued a lady doctor at there for distributing expired dated medicines. At Bungnag Primary Hospital at North Tripura, expired dated medicines are freely distributed among the patients, whereas doctors sitting inside the hospital are taking fees from each and every patients for any check-up. Protesting the attitude of the doctors, locals gheroued the hospital asking the reason behind such unruly activities of doctors in a Govt medical care.

When media went there a lady doctor named Priyanka Roy told them, whatever the state govt is giving to them, they are providing to the patients. She also complained that the central govt is not providing funds enough to Tripura Health Dept, due to which they can not provide proper health service to the patients.

Moreover, it has been known that the mentioned doctor also takes Rs. 100 from each patients, whereas maximum times she works from her quarter and check up patients in private.

At Rajya Sabha Union Health Minister, J P Nadda reported in 2015-16, one fourth of infants less than 5 years old are suffering from malnutrition. The estimation is 24.3 percent. Half of these infants (48.3%) are suffering from anaemia. Half of infants less than two years old refuse vaccination. The take the toll of infant-deaths to 27 percent. It has been further stated in the report that barely 13.4 percent of pregnant women in Tripura consume Iron and Follic Acid tablets. Transfusion of blood below the requisite haemoglobin level is harmful for the doner and recipient as well.

As per the National Family Health Survey 2015-16 is concerned, 24.7 percent male (aged 15 to 49) and 54.5 percent female (aged 15 to 49) in Tripura are suffering from anaemia.  The estimation is 24.3 percent. Half of these infants (48.3%) are suffering from anaemia.

But recently when TIWN asked Tripura Health Minister Badal Chowdhury about death-rate of the patients at rural area, he replied, “Why I am being asked? Ask doctors” !

Question remains, where is doctor in rural Tripura?
