AGARTALA, Oct 16 (TIWN): Eventhough administration had taken initiative to control the noise pollution during Laxmi puja, but noise of sound-crackers’ even after the midnight were high on Saturday.

Every year it happens that although many crackers are seized by authorities but customers manage sound crackers for their celebrations and police do not bother to interrupt the celebration at all, resulting huge problems for old people and children.

The sounds of chocolate bombs created almost terror in who were trying to sleep.

Apart from noise pollution, state also suffered from Air pollution due to the gas emerging out of crackers.

According to a report of the ministry of environment and forest, an increasing trend of noise pollution has been observed in the major cities of the country. To regulate and control noise pollution, the government has issued various notifications under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

The Supreme Court, in September 2001, passed an interim order to comply with the notification of the ministry, issued on October 5, 1999, to control noise emitting from fire crackers. The noise shall not exceed 125 dB(AI) and 145 dB(C)pk. The manufacture, sale and use of fire crackers should be restricted accordingly.

While communicating this order to all state governments and union territories, they have been requested to conduct surveys to assess noise pollution before and on Diwali day.

Ahead of Durga Puga, Laxmi Puja officials of the State Pollution Control Board get busy ensuring that the noise pollution levels do not exceed the specified levels and also bring restriction against sound making crackers.

But who cares for all those rules? Who cares for if there is really some old people getting highly effected by loud noise?

Under the Golden Era led by CM Manik Sarkar, no action will be taken against the clubs unless somebody gives a written complain to any issue.
