KAMALPUR,Oct 16 (TIWN): The seat of tradition, devotion and faith, the Kamaleswari Kalibari at Kamalpur set to celebrate its 111th anniversary of Diwali on 29th October next.

Regarding this, the enthusiasm and hopes of the commoners reached its extreme. But several things remained under scanner regarding this age-old institution and commoners demanded more attention from the part of the committee and administration.

The Kamaleswari Kalibari was set on 1906 by a non-Bengali trader from Sylhet named Krishna Kumar Bajpai. He donated the land for the temple. The idol of the goddess Kamaleswari was brought from Banaras.

The worship on Diwali was started on that very year. Durga Puja in this temple was started from 1912. Then, the sons of late Rasmohan Chakraborty constituted the present temple building in 1936.

Till then, no significant changes were brought in the structure and facilities of the temple. The organizing committee of the temple remained only in documents with no practical activities.

In the meantime, the then MLA Manoj kanti Deb constructed a water tank from his MLA fund for the temple. Present MLA Bijoy Laxmi Sinha constructed some market stalls which provided some steady income to the temple.

But, the temple authority not yet admitted the contribution of Krishna Kumar Bajpai who donated the land. Neither the committee arranged suitable places for the devotees to seat who gathered at the temple almost every day.

More importantly, the temple of the Goddess Kamaleswari needed early and urgent maintenance. The construction of a new building also got demanded. The temple premise severely lack proper management and decoration which could easily be decorated with plants and trees.

Amidst all these shortcomings mother Kamaleswari would witness 111th Diwali celebration. The commoners would surely pray for the blooming of sincerity and responsibility of the organizing committee along with the prayer for the abolition of all the odds and pains.
