Agartala, May 29 (TIWN): Four NLFT militants surrendered to 45 Bn Assam Rifles (under 21 sector Assam Rifles) at Anand Bazar today after persistent pressure by the Assam Rifles.
The surrendered included Parimal Debbarma alias Phankrak of Khengrapara, Mohan Kumar Koloi alias Robin of Taidu, Darandra Tripura of Ganganagar and Bibas Tripura of Karamchara. These four militants escaped from the NLFT camps to surrender to 45 Bn of Assam Rifles along with one carbine machine gun and one pistol.
Earlier, Parimal was confined in the NLFT hideout following charge of misappropriation of fund of the outlawed group.
It has been learned from the returnees that NLFT (BM) is facing a huge financial crunch and its cadres are frustrated. There is a high degree of resentment in its cadres and the disintegration of the group has started.
Rebel leaders have withdrawn all weapons from its fearing that the cadres will try to enter Tripura to surrender. Surrender of these four ultras serves as great blow to the NLFT as Parimal Debbarma was very influential and one of the oldest cadres of the group.
He is likely to divulge lot of information about the group and also about other UG groups which will aid the security forces to plan and execute more operations in the future. All the surrendered militants have been handed over to police station Anandbazar.
