AGARTALA, May 28(TIWN): The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Tuesday wrote to the State Election Commissioner seeking extension in the timeframe for filing claims and objections and said that delimitation of ward areas made for the three-tier panchayats was very vague and no specific map was provided to the PCC.
After delimitation and reorganization of the wards of gram panchayats was conducted, no maps were supplied to us, stated Balai Goswami, PCC member in his letter to the State Election Commissioner stating under the present scenario, it is absolutely impossible to hold the panchayat election in Tripura.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission on Tuesday said in an official press relase stated that the dates for filing claims and objections on the draft electoral rolls of the constituencies of Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samities and ZIlla Parishads were extended upto May 29 from May 27.
The statement from the office of the State Election Commissioner also said that consequences upon extension of time for filing claims and objections the date of disposal of claims and objections were extended up to May 31 in place of May 30.
The final list will be published on June 05. The list was published for 591 Gram Panchayats, 35 Panchayat Samities and 8 Zilla Parishads to elect the next committee of the three tier panchayat bodies in the state. The draft voters list for the upcoming Panchayat polls was prepared based on the 2013 Tripura Legislative Assembly polls electoral rolls.
