Islamic Terrorism worries festive season across States : Army, BSF on high alert along Tripura's Indo-Bangla Border areas ahead of Durga Puja

AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Tripura Police on Tuesday said that although there is no such terror threat in Tripura's borders, but seeing the overall scenario of nation, surveillance has been tightened along Tripura’s border areas ahead of Durga Puja. PM Modi has expressed worry about nationwide Cross Border Terrorism, and already Home Minister has targeted to seal unfenced borders soon, but Tripura’s long pending border issues are acting as threats during every festival season in state. The smuggling issues are much prevalent fueled by state’s 35 % unsealed borders.In a press meet held at Police Head Quarter on Tuesday, DGP K Nagraj said that, to ensure a terror free Durga Puja, nearly 4100 police and 3350 TSR personnel will be deployed in the state to maintain law and to regulate traffic movement. Huge highway security to be maintained & police will be given in every corners.Launching works of CCTV cameras in selected spots are undergoing but the exact number of CCTV cameras police didn’t inform the media due to security issues.Media persons asked if enough police personnel are there due to shortage of BSF troops as large number of BSF contingent have been sent at J&K border areas.

'Tripura border is far from Western Border, but to ensure the safety high secuiry will be maintianed", added DGP. 

However, with terror attacks continuing to emanate from Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described cross-border terrorism and radicalisation as "grave challenges to our security" . The Prime Minister's remarks came following the September 18 cross-border terror attack on an army unit at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 19 Indian soldiers and the attack on an army camp at Baramulla on Sunday in which a BSF trooper was killed.

However, Nagraj said, there is no specific threat as per the ground information, but seeing the overall scenario security have been tighten in Indo-Bangla border areas.

On the other hand huge number of outsiders to come via train this year, which has increased the threat further. In this regard DG said that Railway safety dept, BSF, TSR , police to take care of the safety.

Following the Uri attack,  nationwide safety have been maintained now, but still the attack at J&K has increased the tension of border lined states in India, including Tripura.
