AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN) : Under lameduck Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Tripura’s higher education set up is on the verge of extinction before it started to grow. The attitude of the CPI-M cadres or Association members are like that the medical colleges, engineering colleges were made for serving party channels. Just before a year protest raised for AGMC Prof. posts, and now the admission scandals has hit the admission procedure in Govt Medical College. Many times, question raised about the fair distribution of joint entrance seats. Corruption in Tripura have become a common part of life, as without party channels it has become hard to manage any state govt quota in various steams in High Education. What is particularly alarming is the conspicuous corruption in higher education undermining the foundations of society although has become so pervasive, making it difficult to assess the root causes.

The recent ongoing AGMC admission procedure is an example how controversial Tripura Higher Education  set up is. High Court on Oct 29  cancelled NEET 12 students admission in AGMC, and asked to select 12 students who passed in Tripura Joint entrance.  HC also announced fresh 12 students’ name for the admission for 2016.

But challenging the order of High Court Tripura Govt. has filed SLP in Supreme Court, due to that the admission procedure has been disrupted. Tripura Govt. is now waiting for the Supreme Court hearing as it appealed in SC to skirt the high court order "for admitting 12 students to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) as per results of the state joint entrance examination".

The NEET qualified 12 students met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday, but Sarkar told them to wait till Supreme Court’s decision is announced.  Tripura Govt. in an attempt to unfollow High Court’s order was showing much dilemma in admission process but Trinamool youth forum hit Medical Education Office protesting that the NEET qualified 12 students are getting full support from the state govt. as one of those 12 students is daughter of Hiranmoy Dey, who is CPI-M’s close mate.

TMCP leader Viki Prasad also said , as per Bashudeb Bhattacharjee the admission process to be started from Tuesday (as per High Court’s order).   According to TMC, “let come Supreme Court’s hearing, but the normal admission process can’t be delayed.  Now with SC’s 1st hearing, the NEET qualified 12 students’ admissions have been canceled for now, until SC go with the next hearing.

The latest B.SC admission process which claimed a scam of Rs. 3.5 crores by Tripura Education business brokers looted Rs. 1 lakhs from each 348 Students. After TMC wrote letter to HRD Minister and held protest govt immediately cancelled the posts of 348 students for outside Colleges.

This shows how for the sake of profit CPI-M era is playing with the lives of students & how they are compromising with the quality of the candidates for a serious post like in Medicine.
