AGARTALA, Oct 3 (TIWN): Autumnal festival ,Durgapuja stirs the whole society of Tripura by highlighting traditional culture , customs and rituals of Hindu civilization. Following Vedic belief and customs ,the modern society is indulging in worshiping images of different gods and goddesses .

The  puja or worship got social respect and significance in different ages for the imaginary welfare of the then people, But now a days  the puja means competition of showy  and pomp with devotion.

Can anything fair be done while the organizers in various places are dishonest drunks ?  Earlier the zaminders and richmen used to perform pujas. Now a day the picture is quite different. With  public money such pompous images, decoration and lighting are arranged in cities, towns and villages. to to provide apparent joy although the organizers are befooling  the  people who are being forced to pay huge amount ., Images are  mainly made of earth or stone  and they are exhibited with additional ornaments and decoration.attractions

In this year of 2016 countless of clubs in Agartala and various other towns have been engaged to collect money by pressure or by force in the name goddess Durgapuja. Like past many years the club members in groups threaten the inhabitants of the localities of towns and villages.

Not only the residents but also the lorry drivers, small businessmen, peddlers and vendors are being compelled to give puja subscriptions as per the command of club members. In spite of poverty the people in India are disturbed to a great extent for forcible money collection. Amazingly such club members loot public money in the name of holding, Durgapuja, Kalipuja and other puja also. They also collect money for spending in fake sports, games and social works. In fact the major portion of collected money is spent in personal purpose .

Expenditures in drinking wine, smoking hashis and sometimes in running families are linked to club collections. The common people are bound to carryout the orders of the clubs. It is very conspicuous that for giving indulgence in collecting money against the people’s apathy in providing fund to the clubs. The police and other organs of administration do not take any action against the wrong doers because the powerful politicians as well as the M.P. & M.L.A are controlling the police stations and other administrative offices for reciprocal advantages.

If we analyze the past and present history of clubs we can see a powerful hobnobbing of club authority with politicians of ruling party . For such closeting or hobnobbing the anti-social activities continue sine die and the people become dependent on the mercy of hooligans .

The smuggling of cows and narcotic items are in full swing in the border areas for sharing bribes by the police, politicians , administrative agents and club members.

The foreign rulers have quitted India but the Indian politicians/rulers have made the people confined under club rules. Another form of club is ‘Syndicate’ that monitors the selling or purchasing of people’s lands for collecting a sizeable amount of cut-money. If any citizen disobey the club or politicians, he/she must be prepare for receiving brutal torture by club members or political cadres. Though government tax is viable , the Club Tax is violation of civic rights to make innocent people dependent.

For  puja excessive expenditure is  collected from the people . Crores of rupees are looted from the society and markets . Big and well decorated pandals or temporary temple for displaying earthen images of goddess Durga are erected. Dazzling art of lights are made attractive .

During these  five days of Durga puja many a criminal activities occur here and there even in club compounds.

Important question remains that, ‘Crores of money is being spent for 5 days of Puja but lakhs of unemployed and hungry are perishing in every corner of Tripura ???
