UDAIPUR, May 25 (TIWN): Work on time will be the agenda of the newly appointed Gomati District Magistrate Sonal Goel, who took charge of her office on Wednesday. Soon after taking the charge, talking exclusively with TIWN today, the DM dropped hint that she would not act in haste. She said, she would take some time to identify the problems of the district. Once that is done, she would take initiatives to address them.
Ms. Goel said “I will do my job according to the instruction and the order of the government. The new role will be a challenge for me because this is my first posting as DM. I shall try my level best to handle every situation I come across,”
Ms. Goel, a 2008 batch IAS officer has previously served as SDM of Ambassa, ADM of Udaipur, CEO of Agratala Municipal of Council and other high posts before appointed as DM. The newly-appointed DM listed her priorities and said she would continue to address issues taken up by her predecessor.
"Action should be taken on public complaints in a timely manner. No laxity of officials will be tolerated and laid-back and negligent officials unable to sort out people's issues would be dealt with strictly. Development works will be completed in a time-bound and transparent manner," said Ms. Goel.
After joining she convened a meeting and took stock of projects like Village Development Scheme, MGNREGA, PMGSY and the sanitation and drinking water schemes,, beside she will lay stress on speedy completion of pending work on various projects and warned that any laxity on part of officials will not be tolerated. Amid growing crimes against women in the district, new District Magistrate has assured that stringent action will be taken against the miscreants.
When apprised of the rampant encroachment in Udaipur town and extinction of turtles at Matabari Lake, she said: “I have just taken the charge and I shall take some time to understand the issues and problems. I cannot be specific just now and certainly try to solve this problem.”
