AGARTALA, Sep 30 (TIWN): Tripura woke up on Friday morning with Mahalaya songs, playing by various organizations, TV channels, Radio. People opened eyes chanting Shaki-Devi’s name, as Mahalaya invocation song is everywhere.
“Ya Devi Sarwa Bhteshu….”. chanting of Devi’s name has brought joys to people, children in the Mahalya morning & finally the Durga Puja festival for 2016 kicked off.
In this season of autumn, Hindus all over Tripura are getting enthused in festive fervor. In Udaipur Matabari & in Agartala and other subdivisions in various holy places, offers are paying to Devi Duga.
Now Bengalis got busy to complete the final preparations for their greatest festival - Durga Puja.
Mahalaya is an auspicious occasion observed seven days before the Durga Puja, and heralds the advent of Durga, the goddess of supreme power. It's a kind of invocation or invitation to the mother goddess to descend on earth - "Jago Tumi Jago". This is done through the chanting of mantras and singing devotional songs.
