AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): Aiming to check the cross border movement of insurgents, the Bangladesh government has decided to establish seven to eight Army/ BGB camps along Tripura-Mizoram and Bangladesh border, highly placed sources confirmed here today. After erection of barbed wire fencing along the Indo-Bangla border, the insurgents sheltered in Bangladesh find it difficult to cross over the international border.Of late, the rebels have started using porous Mizoram-Tripura-Bangladesh border as safe corridor and the security agencies have confirmed the increasing movement of insurgents through that stretch.Following pressure from the Indian authority, Dhaka has decided to put a full-proof security measure place in the ‘sensitive areas’ to stop the infiltration of militants, said a senior police officer here today.

“We have received information from across the border that seven or eight camps to be manned by Army and BGB would be set up along the tri-junction. Besides, we will also beef up security measures to stop using the area by ultras”, he said.

Lauding the Bangladesh role in curbing militancy in the Northeast region, he said if the full-proof security mechanism is placed there, the militants especially NLFT will face more trouble in the days to come.

According to him, despite Dhaka’s full-cooperation, the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) has 15/20 hideouts across the border. And it has 80/90 cares in hand, one of the lowest strength it has had ever.

On whereabouts of NLFT supremo Biswamohan Debbarma, he said, “Even his men are not aware of it. He might be on the run from Dhaka to Myanmar to evade arrest”.

Here it may be noted ATTF supremo Ranjit Debbarma, who was ‘pushed back’ to Tripura after he was arrested by Bangladesh authority. Now, the banned outfit ATTF is virtually defunct after the arrest of its supremo.
