AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): Whereas Tripura Govt. keeps on blaming the Assam Govt. & central govt for the pathetic condition of National Highway, on the other hand agitated locals on Wednesday blocked Airport road seeking reason behind PWD’s negligence in roadway renovation.

Tripura CM recently blamed the Modi Govt.saying his Act East Policy is bogus & for being fully responsible for the pathetic road-condition of Assam-Agartala road, but in reality from South Tripura to West Tripura everywhere the transport system via roadway has become night mare for the common people of Tripura.

Reportedly, the locals of Barjala at Agartala had blocked road on Wednesay morning and immediately police rushed to the spot, but agitated locals declined to withdraw the road-blockade without DM’s arrival. After July 19, the same public again blocked road at Airport way seeing no action evenafter continuous protests.

The Kalyanpur area people (Barjala) told TIWN that since many months they are complaining about the situation to the administration, but it has been seen whenever they complain few bricks are thrown on the road. As a result the road just after few days becomes same like before. In this monsoon the road has been fully collapsed and following that incident the agitated public has hit the airport road with the hour-long strike.

In Agartala however, many roads have been identified as in pathetic shape, but PWD Minister yet claims that Tripura’s roadway is better than other Northeastern States’ raods. 1)  The roadway which covers Battala Fish-Bazaar to the road went near the barrage was broken down after the pipe-line was set there. But PWD has no hurry to re-construct the road there, 2.) From Joynagar Dasami Ghat to Upendra Para bridge has become almost unsuited for use. So  renovation of that road is also needed, 3) renovation work of Dasamighat to Battala road is also urgently needed,  4)Renovation needed taking the areas from Fire-service to checkpost (Akhaura), 5)Kalikapur to Shanmura road also needs immediate renovation.

Along with National Highway, Tripura’s local roads are also in deplorable condition due to the poor maintenance held by PWD.  

PWD corruption has no bounds in state as under the state govt. in the name of central projects bribe happy officials are looting crores of fund, but govt. here has no concern to proceed for the developmental works. In the name of development, building construction, road construction although funds are allocating from the centre, but the sign for development or any change is yet to be visible.

PWD’s corruption and roadways pathetic condition is responsible for the poor economy prevailed in state.

But, still  the Chief Minister and his ministers claim for the rapid development held in state.
