AGARTALA, May 24(TIWN): Tripura’s Public Works Department (PWD) has called Expression of Interest (EOI) for construction state’s first fly-over from Bardowali Drop-Gate and Fire Brigade Chowmuhani said Sunil Bhowmik, Engineer-in- Chief of PWD.
Speaking to reporters at secretariat on Saturday the official informed that it may take at least two and half months for completing the entire process of EOI. He also informed that PWD has finalized Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 2.5 Km length fly -over was estimated to be constructed with a financial involvement of Rs. 170 crores.
Sources inside the state PWD said that fund diversion from other sources is being considered a possibility for managing resources for the project. Soil testing for the Bardowali-Fire Brigade fly-over was complete by September, last year. Officials of the PWD said that tender is expected to be floated by January, 2014 itself. While funding sources are not officially finalized as yet, Special Central Assistance (SCA) or Special Plan Assistance (SPA) funds are expected to be utilized for the purpose.
The engineer- in- chief also informed that Department of Industries has request PWD to prepare a DPR for the international bridge over river Feni in Sabroom of South Tripura connecting Bangladesh. PWD has agreed to prepare the DPR, the work will start soon.
The 150 – Meter Bridge, to be built at a cost of 1 billon rupees, would help India to gain access to the neighbhourng country’s Chittagong seaport.Bangladesh has agreed to allow India to use its Chittagong. Mongla and Ashuganj ports.
