AGARTALA, Sep 24 (TIWN): NSS Day was observed at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan on Saturday.

Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury inaugurated the porgramme.

Footballer Lakhmita, gymnast Dipa Karmakar were felicitated during the programme.

And the gathering at Rabindra Bhawan Tripura Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury said, “NSS is doing a great job nationwide”.

“In emergency situation its NSS who can help people by service”, said Choudhury.

He also mentioned about training should be given to NSS so that they can help the mankind more and more.

National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Govt sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Govt of India.

Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969.
