Agartala, May 23 (TIWN): The expensive fiber-made statue of Rabindranath Tagore set in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan has left the state government as well as Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (ICAT) department in dilemma and the state government is likely to remove the statue, said sources.
The Director of ICAT has been organizing meetings over the issue. Administrative meets were held in recent times centering round the fiber-made statue and detailed discussion was held over Karl Marx resembling statue of Tagore. Delegates from the supervising draftsmen group who were entrusted with the designing of the statue remained present there in the meeting.
The dispute regarding the statue has reached its peak in the social networking sites. Priyalal Paul was engaged with the craft of the statue. The statue of Tagore has turned into a topic of creativity as well as disparage. Well the state government is liable for the entire issue and coming days will shed light on what initiatives the state government would take regarding the ‘debatable’ statue of Tagore.
The statue was placed and inaugurated on May 09 (Baisakh 25) on the birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. According to the intellectual section, the Tagore lovers will have no objection if the statue is removed on his death anniversary that is Aug 08 (Sravan 22).
