AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today exhorted the pass-out medical students of Tripura Medical College (TMC) to be good human being and serve the patients with smiling face.

 For you, all the patients are same and there should not be different mindset for different patients, he said while speaking at the Graduation Day programme at TMC, Hapania.

Asserting that today is an important occasion for the medical students and faculty members, Sarkar said, “People want healing touch from the doctors. You have to forget that you are not only physician and thus you need to be a good human being if one wants to be professionally successful”.

He continued, “If a doctor does work properly, other staffs like nurses and paramedics will do better job automatically. So, lot of things of a health institution depends on how the physicians perform”.

From today onwards people would consider you- pass-out doctor the almighty and you have to live up with the people’s expectations, he said adding that physicians must repay their debts to the people.

In the programme, Chief Minister handed over citation and certificates to the newly pass-out MBBS doctors. All the successful candidates were first batch of TMC and Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital. While Rupanjali Acharjee who secured highest score in Surgery and Pediatrics stood first, Mainik Chandra Das and Amaresh Shill finished second and fourth.

Health Secretary M. Nagraju presided over the function while TMC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AK Poddar gave welcome address. TMC Principal Prof SK Bhattacharee, Health department Advisor D. Siddartha Majumder and Director of Medical Education Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharjee  were also remained present in the programme. A total of 67 successful medical students have been given citations and certificates.
