AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): Tripura Jute Mills Ltd, considered the face of Tripura’s industrial map, has been facing tough time because of corrupt practice by a section of official and employees.
Three employees- Mrinal Kanti Nath, Anjan Debnath and Swapan Kumar Paul virtually turned Tripura Jute Mills Ltd as private-owned grocery shop even as the government has been pumping crores of money to ensure survival of the beleaguered industrial unit.

Citing instance of malpractice, Pabindra Suklabaidhya today said Anjan Debnath, an employees of Jute Mills Ltd has been remained in service even four years after his retirement. However, the government is against giving extension to any employee.

Swapan Paul, a fixed-pay employee has been given promotion to the post of Accounts Officer Spl Grade, which is four-step ahead of his previous position. “The promotion has been affected without prior permission from the government which is a complete violation of the service rule”, he said at a press conference at Agartala Press Club here.

Interestingly, there are hundreds of fixed pay employees here who are yet to get regular pay scale. Now the question arises who had given the promotion to the fixed pay employee defying the guideline of the government.

They have been purchasing materials crores of money without consultation or nod from the departmental purchasing committee. 

In course of vigilance probe, the allegations against the trio- Mrinal-Anjan- Swapan found true but no step has been taken against them till the date though the probe was ended in March, this year.

To take the revenge, the trio has been trying to deprive 603 grade one employees and some supervisors. Suklabaidhya claimed the trio had stalled the annual increment of 601 employees of the Jute Mills Ltd.

He also criticized the state government double standard role in giving due to the employees of Jute Mills Ltd. Suklabaidhya said even after High Court’s verdict and Law department’s suggestion on the release of their dues, the government has taken the matter to the door of Supreme Court. “The state government move is really unfortunate”, he added.
