Jiten Chaudhury resigns, Naresh Jamatia new Minister

Agartala, May 20 (TIWN): After being elected from the East Tripura Loksabha Seat, Minister Jitendra Chowdhury resigned from state cabinet. On Tuesday evening he has handed over resignation letter to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Today at around 5.30pm he has handed over the resignation with immediate effect after a short discussion in cabinet meeting. Among eleven members of Tripura state cabinet, Mr. Chaudhury was one of the senior most and efficient minister. During his last tenure he was in charge of IT, Forest, Rural & Industry department. Mr Chaudhury was quite emotional today while his cabinet colleagues bid him formal farewell.  However, Chief Minister will send this resignation letter to the Governor and Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly respectively.Mr Chaudhury is scheduled to attend swearing in ceremony on May 26 at Lok Sabha.

Senior CPI (M) MLA Naresh Jamatia would be inducted in the Manik Sarkar led government soon, an official release tonight confirmed.The Chief Minister after customary consultation with his cabinet colleagues requested Governor Devananda Konwar to include Mr. Jamatia in the cabinet. The induction of new face has been made after resignation of Jitenra Chowdhury as Minister. Mr. Chowdhury who had contested the Lok Sabha election made his way to the Parliament with huge mandate.
