Agartala, May 20 (TIWN): After being elected from the East Tripura Loksabha Seat, Minister Jitendra Chowdhury resigned from state cabinet. On Tuesday evening he has handed over resignation letter to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Today at around 5.30 pm he has handed over the resignation in immediate effect after a short discussion in cabinet meeting. Among eleven members of Tripura state cabinet, Mr. Chaudhury was one of the senior most and efficient minister. During his last tenure he was in charge of IT, Forest, Rural & Industry department. Mr Chaudhury was quite emotional today while his cabinet colleagues bid him formal farewell. However, Chief Minister will send this resignation letter to the Governor and Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly respectively.Mr Chaudhury is scheduled to attend swearing in ceremony on May 26 at Lok Sabha.
At the same time, ruling left front already started searching for suitable candidate to fill the vacancies. Sources said, with the expansion of the State Cabinet, some departments also can be reshuffled among the other ministers. All the important departments discharged by Jitendra Chaudhury can be distributed among senior cabinet ministers.
