KAMALPUR, Sep 13 (TIWN): Recently, the Bimal Singha Open Stage at Baralutma Maharas yatra complex got demolished. And a works for a new stage was started.

The work created much controversy in the sub-division as it hinted towards the political factionalism of CPI-M and its shameless outcome. Questions also rose as what was the need to demolish an open stage which was in quite good condition.

The open stage was constructed in 2000 after the fund donated by then MLA Sudhir Das from his BEUP fund. The stage was titled after the deceased former Health Minister BImal Sinha.

Till last year, the stage served as the centre of cultural and formal functions of prestigious Maharas Yatra Fair and Festival. Small dressing room was also provided behind the stage.

In some recent years, the need for a new and sophisticated stage was felt. But it was planned that, some construction would be done keeping the stage intact as it was in good condition.

Recently, almost a week ago, the stage was demolished completely. At the same time, the trace of a deceased MLA’s benevolent work also got wiped out. It got revealed that, the new stage might be constructed after the funding of local MLA Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha or from the Panchayat Samiti or Zilla Parishad.

It created much controversy among the commoners as well as the CPI-M workers and supporters. Many expressed that, the stage got demolished due to the long-drawn enmity between deceased MLA Sudhir Das and present sub-divisional Secretary Anjan Das.

Some party leaders went even to the extent of saying that, Anjan not wanted to keep any sign of work done by the deceased MLA. And hence, such decisions and works might well be seen frequently in near future.
