AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Shell-shocked over worst-ever performance in the Lok Sabha campaign in the Marxist ruled Tripura, the opposition Congress is looking for advisory words from Delhi. The brain storming session on the electoral outcome is meaningless in Tripura as the vote share of the main opposition has come down from 46 to 24 percent within few months, said PCC spokesman Dr. Ashok Sinha here today. In the February Assembly elections, last year, the Congress had secured 46 percent votes though it suffered humiliating defeat at the hand of the mighty CPM led Left Front. The Congress-INPT combine had bagged only 11 Assembly constituencies while 40 seats went to the front’s kitty.

“We don’t’ feel necessity to discus the results of the Lok Sabha elections as all the opposition parties’ vote share reduced to only 24 whereas the Congress had secured 46 votes alone in the last Assembly polls”, he said.

Dr. Sinha, however, said, “We are waiting advisory words from the CWC, party highest policy making body which is meeting today itself”.

However, some leaders have been fuming over the party’s poor show in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and rise of Trinamool Congress in the state’s political landscape.

The Trinamool Congress has increased its vote share from 4504 in 2009 to 1.17 lakh in 2014 Lok Sabha elections giving an alarming call for the opposition parties.

“We stated our campaign for the general election just few months before the announcement of the elections and have got good response from the electors. Now, the party will move forward riding on the success of the Parliamentary elections”, said Trinamool’s state unit chairman Ratan Chakraborty.

Of the total 60 Assembly segments, Trinamool Congress finished second in 12 ACs while it posed a major contender in the vote share of the opposition Congress and other parties.
