AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Buoyed by the ‘impressive results’ in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress is now contemplating to intensify its campaign to strengthen organization based in Tripura.I have informed Trinanamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy on the party’s results in the Parliamentary elections and in turn he asked me to take all possible steps to strength the organization before the coming Panchayat elections, said party’s state unit chairman Ratan Chakraborty here today.

“It is quite encouraging the way we received the blessing from the voters in the Parliamentary elections and hope that the party would do better in the next three-tier Panchayat elections”, he said.

Mr. Chakraborty, who contested the election in West Tripura Lok Sabha seat, had been able to increase party’s vote share substantially- from 4504 in 2009 to 1,17,000 in 2014 while vote share of the main opposition Congress had gone down from 2.75 lakh to 1,68,179 votes.

In the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency also, the Trinamool Congress has enhanced vote share this time and Mamata Banerjee should be credited for the party’s relatively good show.

“Trinamool’s vote share would be more if we had support of tribal based party like INPT. Hopefully, the party leadership will look into on how to strengthen organization in the state’s tribal belts”, he said.

Riding on the good show, the Trinamool Congress has been mobilizing its organization at the subdivisional level keeping in mind of the upcoming Panchayat elections. “ Now, our aim to increase votes in the coming election before going for big jump for the next Assembly elections”, Chakraborty said.

He further added the Trinamool would celebrate the party’s landslide victory in the West Bengal here but the date has not been finalized yet. Mamata Banarjee led the Trinamool Congress to increase its tally from 19 to 34 Lok Sabha constituencies.
