AGARTALA, Sep 5 (TIWN): Although West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gifted each of the student unions with Rs. 20,000/- to organize colourful programmes for their teachers, but Tripura’s poor people’s govt. couldn’t give anything except blessing & few advises to the students.

However, with much enthusiasm, across various part of the state Teacher’s Day has been celebrated in Tripura. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the 55th teacher’s day in Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.

Along with Manik Sarkar Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath, Finance Minister Bhanula Saha and other dignitaries remained present.

However, during his speech Manik Sarkar said, “School should attract students like magnets. The teachers’ duty is to increase the interest among students for schools”. He also talked about the compulsory education till class 10 and asked the teachers to go ahead with their wise duty and to uplift themselves with the greatness inside them.

“State Govt. doesn’t like to dictate or instruct the teachers as Teachers are most respectable personalities in the society”, he added.

However, he didn’t mention about the poor infrastructure of Tripura schools, mid-day-meal scams and poor salary of the teachers.
