AGARTALA, Sep 4 (TIWN): The NDA Govt. in Centre with much risks boldly taking steps to re-shape Indian Railway service, which started to fall since the UPA Govts came in power. Knowing fully well that Govt. may face huge debt under Railway projects, the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is determined to increase the railway income within next few years and to uplift the infrastructure in more advanced manner with the Railway-Revenue-Income itself. Although few states like Tripura led by CPI-M, have remained fruitless for Railway Revenue and like a burden the state govt., begs for central funds and raises every possible demands to the central without any State Investment---still the BJP led central Govt. never did any partiality with Tripura, and launched its Act East Policy here. Many times Suresh Prabhu himself asked Tripura Chief Minister to boost the Bamboo-business via Railway, but all are in vain. Apart from few importing of bricks, or food items, state Tripura has failed to export items although state has much potentiality.

However, according to the Central Railway Ministry Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) are crucial to his plan to raise revenues and regain lost freight market share from roads. For example in the year 2008 the two corridors under UPA Govt. which had been slow have gain momentum under Modi Govt.

The project of Delhi-Mumbai and Ludhiana-Dankuni which began under UPA Govt. in 2008, got momentum only in 2014, when the NDA Govt. came in Power.

However, the Central Govt. is also in the process of restructuring the Railway Board to change the way of decision are taken in Indian Railways, improve passenger amenities by up-grading the quality of coaches, adding Wi-Fi, running special trains like super luxury Tejas and modern Deen Dayalu etc---while also reducing costs, speeding new ways of raising finances.

In this way, apart from railway service Central took many initiatives to upgrade the backward states with the offer of 50: 50 sharing funds, as Development doesn’t come without investment.

But Tripura Govt., who is never interested to invest anything, rather than screwing central funds, has been responsible to let the state much behind from progress since CPI-M’s regime of 23 years.
